Did you know that the Internet of Things (IoT) market is projected to be the largest device market in the world by 2019? It will be more than double the size of the smartphone, PC, tablet, connected car and the wearable market combined. The Enterprise sector will lead the IoT, accounting for 46% of device shipments this year.
AMP’s client, LogMeIn, is at the forefront of the Enterprise connected devices revolution with its innovative product named Xively. Xively enables companies to securely connect their products, manage data from those connections, and engage more closely with their customers in order to better develop, market, sell, and support the next generation of connected products.
LogMeIn challenged AMP to develop an experience as innovative as Xively in order to:
- Demonstrate the superior product benefits and applications
- Reinforce their position as a leader in Enterprise IoT
- Deliver an innovative digital experience to catch attendees’ attention
Plagued by security breaches and inflexible, outdated technology, Senior IT Executives and Decision Makers desire a partner that provides a trusted, flexible, impactful solution.
To position themselves as the trusted, knowledgeable product partner for these senior-level executives, LogMeIn created their first ever Internet of Things Conference, Xperience, aimed at addressing the challenges facing these IT experts. Xperience featured speakers spanning all aspects of a manufacturing organization from Product Development to Service and Support with sessions geared towards executives and senior leadership to help them address critical business initiatives and emerging challenges relating to IoT.
Given the qualified, captive audience, Xperience served as the perfect platform to showcase Xively’s dynamic features.
With the ideal venue selected, our challenge was even clearer ‘ develop an unforgettable experience that showcases Xively’s platform while complementing the overall event. To us, the best way to demonstrate the power of the product was to put it to use in a contextually relevant way.
Part I: The Coffee Bar Experience
The “smart” coffee station demonstrated the practical uses of the IoT as it relates to a business setting while also enhancing the conference experience.
We captured attendee data through the registration process and survey data (title, company, city, state, industry and favorite coffee type).
Using RFID tags embedded in conference badges, our activation could identify attendees before they even placed an order. This approach streamlined the process, captured consumption data and delivered a personalized experience.

AMP also utilized the data to provide valuable customer insights and show the power of the Xively dashboard.
Another unique touchpoint for guests was the hello screen. A hidden RFID reader would read a person’s conference badge and a custom message would populate on the screen.
PART III: X15.XIVELY.COM
We created a unique web app that allowed for guests to access the conference agendas, speaker bios, maps, twitter feed, city maps, surveys, and the dashboard.
The event and program were both extremely successful. Not only did the program gain popularity at the event, but also online with #XperienceloT trending #1 in Boston the first day of the conference ‘beating out trending topics ‘Tom Brady’ and ‘Hurricane Joaquin.’
