In our continuing series of examining Google Search Trends to gain insights into the most queried keyword phrases in the USA, we present our findings from November 2024.
For every day of the month, we collect three keyword phrases with the highest search volume reported by Google Trends – Trending Now (US Only). Google’s Trending Now tool provides the date when each phrase started to trend or when the phrase started to be “searched more than usual.” Each keyword phrase has an estimated query volume attached to it, which we also record. After the conclusion of the month, we review the entire list of phrases along with their volumes to understand what motivated people to enter those queries. Our series of reports gives a snapshot of the most important topics on the populace’s minds, sometimes with some year-over-year growth or decline analysis.
November 2024
As November 2024 unfolded, US Google users were abuzz with searches reflecting the month’s biggest moments, from presidential election aftermaths to boxing matches. After the 2024 U.S. election results, there was high interest in the President-Elect’s cabinet picks. Black Friday fever returned with staggering interest in deals at Lowe’s, Walmart, and Hulu, while annual favorites like Spotify Wrapped kept fans searching for their results. In this recap, we explore how these search trends encapsulate a month that brought intrigue, celebration, and anticipation across politics, sports, entertainment, and holiday traditions.
The Google Doodle
The official Native American Heritage Month Doodle celebrated the kayak, which was created over 5,000 years ago.

The update to Google’s logo led to queries of the phrase “kayak”. These clicks were captured over one million times by Google Trends and we are reporting it here.
What’s Up in Entertainment

- CMA awards 2024 winners – 11/20/2024 – 500,000+ queries
- who won Dancing with the Stars 2024 – 11/25/2024 – 1,000,000+ queries
The return of Yellowstone was a top queried show, along with the winners of this year’s Country Music Association Awards show. Winning was on the mind of Google searchers when they sought out the results of the Dancing With The Stars season finale. For the record, Joey Graziadei and Jenna Johnson won this year.

We found it unusual that neither Wicked nor Gladiator 2 made our daily top three most queried keyword collection. With the hype that “Glicked” was getting in the press (they were released on the same day and drew parallels to last year’s Barbenheimer), we were sure we would see a spike in search volume before their theatrical releases. We did not, but people were wondering about the duration of the Moana sequel. Maybe it’s because Wicked is 2 hours and 40 minutes long.
Holidays
The first set of holiday-related queries started trending right before the 11th.

Veterans Day drove many queries this year, but it didn’t beat the search interest seen in 2019.
Search interest in the holiday had decreased in 2020- 2023, but it rebounded a bit this year. Coincidentally, the last time Veterans Day was on a Monday was 2019.
Moving on to the Thanksgiving holiday, we saw varied keyword phrases. One was about Turkey Day, and the rest were about holiday shopping.

With the new Trending Now interface, we are seeing more retailer keywords than in years past. Cheers to the marketing teams at these companies that spurred this search interest in their Black Friday deals.
Presidential Election
We have seen keywords related to US politics trending every month this year and the biggest month was November 2024 (no surprise). Here’s the list of phrases that led up to the election.

As it was in 2020, some of the biggest search volumes attached to keywords in Google Trends are related to the US Presidential Election. These topics will make Google’s Year in Search for 2024.

The topic started to trend five days before the bout. Jon Jones, who won an undercard fight, also trended before the event. Lastly, you can see that many people didn’t watch but wanted to know who won.
